CARF-five-puppies

Please welcome five of our latest rescues! We didn’t get around to telling you yet (busy, busy…), but last month, we also rescued a litter of 5 puppies; all of them in bad shape.

They were terribly malnourished, dehydrated, and running a high fever. When rescued, they were about 6-7 weeks old but weigh only 1.3 to 1.7 kilos (2.8 – 3.7 pounds). Their bellies were distended, not because they are chubby and healthy, but because they are riddled with intestinal parasites. They were covered in ticks and fleas and because of their weight the only option was to use Frontline and deworm them. Meanwhile, we gave them their first bath. They wriggled around the tub, bundled up in towels, and cuddled while they dried off. We couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces!

We have named these five puppies; Raquel, Renato, Ricarda, Regina, and Rosa-Maria. The five R-puppies!

The puppies are definitely a bit more active these days, but they are not out of the woods yet. They have a long road to recovery and we can’t wait to see them in their good health. Of course, we will keep you all posted on their journey. In the meantime, please donate to help them get better.
