This post is way overdue, but better late than never, right? When the corona-virus outbreak hit, quite some of our volunteers and foster families left the island. Meanwhile the number of dogs in our care has only grown amid the pandemic. Our shrinking team is busier than ever, and by the end of the day, we don’t always have the time (or the energy) to update our social media. Anyways, we have been meaning to tell you about a litter that we rescued a while back. Here we go!
Late July, a long time volunteer learned about a litter of puppies dumped near Fuik. This litter of five was in very bad shape (one had already died). Upon our arrival, a second pup was found dead and a 3rd puppy died shortly after, despite our very best efforts. They were simply too weak and malnourished to survive, their frail bodies unable to overcome the horrible parasites and anemia. They required many vet visits for fluids, shots, round the clock care and feedings but they made it! We don’t know where these puppies came from or who is responsible for dumping them, but it’s really heartbreaking that these poor souls were not cared for.
Surviving Trio
Fast forward to September and our surviving trio is doing really well. They have been given lots of love, care, and attention, and once out of the danger zone made the necessary vet visits for microchips and age-appropriate vaccinations. Sumaq, Sami and Suyana are curious, playful and affectionate. They brighten our days, warm our hearts, and their cuteness makes this pandemic a bit easier to take.
As our supplies are drying up, we could really use your help to continue to take care of our S-puppies! We are currently in need of Clorox Bleach, kitchen paper towels, trash bags (medium), puppy pee pads, laundry detergent to wash the many towels, and any financial support you may be willing to offer.
