Update on FORTUNO...
Update on FORTUNO ??
He is being handfed AD canned food as he cannot chew or move his jaw properly yet for dry
kibble. The infection seems to slowly be going down and he is taking his meds and painkillers like a champ !
He is sleeping a lot which is to be expected. There is still an awful look of bloody pus oozing from his face and mouth. He had various wounds and cuts all over hi body which are also being treated topically.
He’s hanging in there and if there is one thing we have seen in all our years of rescue is how though and resilient these creatures are !

Terwijl we op zoek waren naar een zwaar gewonde hond (die we overigens nog steed...
Behalve Fortuno waar we gisteren al over hebben gepost kwamen ze ook deze hele oude en gehavende dame tegen. We named her Zelda ?
Zelda is zo ontzettend lief, ze liet zich zo meenemen. Ze wordt geschat tussen de 13-15 jaar.
Is zwaar vermagerd en was uitgedroogd. Ze heeft schurft en karpattenziekte en zware bloedarmoede. Op hartworm wordt ze in een later stadium voor getest. Ze eet en drinkt gelukkig wel en neemt zonder problemen haar medicatie. Vanaf nu alleen maar liefde voor Zelda.
Het is werkelijk te triest voor worden hoe dieren door sommigen worden behandeld in onze gemeenschap.
We zijn er nog LANG niet. En zolang de overheid en het openbare ministerie hun ogen sluiten voor dit enorm problematiek zal dit alleen maar erger worden.

After receiving a call regarding a severely injured dog our volunteers rushed out right away to look for him. As it got dark and the area was difficult to search they decided to regroup early the next morning. Searching for hours, talking to many residents, still nothing, the poor creature was nowhere to be found. They did, however, encounter huge amounts of dead dogs, severely injured, emaciated, mangey, sickly dogs.
Fortuno was one of them. Seems he had been walking with a head/face/jaw injury for at least 2 weeks and the stench of infection was enough to turn any well seasoned rescuers stomach.
He was easily secured and transported to the clinic immediately. He was put on a drip and given heavy painkillers and antibiotics. Time will tell if he will recover. We will be there for him and with him all the way. He is getting the best care and we are so grateful for our dedicated fosters.
We cannot wrap our heads around this ongoing epidemic of abuse, neglect, lack of empathy and compassion. This MUST be dealt with on official government level !!
We are still looking for the first injured dog as well ?
Please help us.
This is way too much to handle for a small group of volunteers, no government subsidies, just the trust and support from all you kind and concerned friends and followers. We hate to beg, but we must.

Pien has been in our care for well over a year now, but she's ready to move to her forever home.
Pien, how are you doing?
"I'm good, thank you. When I was first rescued by CARF, they helped me recover from a broken paw. I had a splint for several weeks and, I won't lie, I destroyed several cones. Although in my defense, that really was a team effort as my furry housemates helped me. My splint was removed last year, and the vet made sure I was also spayed, micro-chipped and vaccinated. I'm healthy and feeling great!"
What do you look for in a human?
"I don't ask for much, really. Just someone to love, care for, and love me back in return. I guess I might need some time to get used to new people and settle into my new home, but once I'm comfortable around you, I am very loyal. Pinky-paw-swear."

Spa day for Drake...
Spa day for Drake ??
It was probably his first bath ever but he took it all in like a champ ! He had a nice medicated bath and a pat down (not a rub down due to his irritated skin) and we applied some oil to help moisturize his dry and scaly skin.
He looks so much better already. Drake is still a bit shut down but is fortunately very responsive to his fosters.
He’ll get there..... ??
