Puppy Business Fundraiser by The Monkey Business

Who remembers CARFIE Harley? Harley was found as a little puppy hiding underneath a car in Curaçao. Since November 2017, he lives in The Hague with his adoptive parents where he's living the life that he always deserved. And on February 24th, he's powering his very first workshop. Are you coming...?
So, what is happening? On Saturday, February 24th, you're invited you to a full day of 'monkey business' to raise money for the homeless, neglected and abandoned dogs on Curaçao. The full sum of the tickets will be donated to CARF and the donation will be used to buy medicine, pay for vet visits, purchase dog food, get vaccines, etc.

But what exactly is 'monkey business'? Good question! Monkey business shows you that through a perfect mixture of different movements, methods and skills you will gain flexibility, strength, coordination, balance, reaction, conditioning in a fast pace ― all while having fun!

That sounds fun! That's because it is! But don't think it isn't a serious workout tough, we play in a serious way where your 'inner monkey' will be having loads of fun, where your human body will think "What is going on?"

How much does it cost to join? You can sign up for an original monkey business session by Ravian in the morning and/or learn the handstand in the afternoon with Claire. If you decide to join both workshops, make sure to bring a lunch package with you. Of course, you can also sign up for just one workshop. Just make sure to sign up soon because tickets are limited!

€25 Original Monkeys (with Ravian)
€25 Handstand Monkeys (with Claire)
€40 Full Day Monkeys

What time is all this happening?
The Original Monkeys will take place from 10:30AM - 12:30PM. The Handstand Monkeys will take place from 1:30-3:00PM.

So, how do I sign up? Signing up is easy! Click here to visit the website of The Puppy Business and scroll all the way down to the 'Purchase' button.

Don’t have time at all? That's too bad! If you can't join, perhaps you would like to donate? No matter how small, all donations help. There's no minimum for the donation, it’s all out of love!
So, in short...

What: The Puppy Business Fundraiser
When: Saturday, February 24, 2018
Time: 10:30AM - 3:00PM
Where: Ravez Movement Academy, Lange Beestenmarkt 58, The Hague, The Netherlands

Your Photo Shoot Will Save Lives

With who would you like to have a photo shoot? Your family? Your friends? Your pets? Your (grand)children? Our friend and long-time supporter Nestor Zavarce is now offering professional photo shoots at a location of your choice. Part of the profits will be donated to CARF.
Last year, we organized a Pet Photo Shoot with Nestor. During the day, people brought their pets to a central location where Nestor was shooting pictures. Proceeds were donated to CARF.

Due to the success of last year's event, we decided to host another photo shoot with Nestor. This year, we're doing it a little different though:

  • You can pick the date and time. The offer is valid from September 15th - December 15th, and scheduling a place and time will be done together with Nestor.
  • You can pick the location. Whether you want to do a photo shoot on your favorite beach, your home, or elsewhere, you decide.
  • You can pick the models. Last year, we hosted a pet photo shoot, this year you can choose to have a family photo shoot, a pregnancy photo shoot, a friends photo shoot... you name it! With or without pets, everyone is welcome.

Each photo shoot will take 60 minutes. For every photo shoot booked, Nestor will donate part of the profits to CARF, to help us take care of our 120+ rescued dogs.

Costs
200 ANG from Mondays - Fridays (OB incl).
300 ANG in the weekends and holidays (OB incl).

After the photo shoot, you will receive the best images (edited, and in high resolution) by a Dropbox link. You will receive 15-30 images per shoot.

Wings For Animals x CARF Curaçao

We owe a big, huge and giant THANK YOU to Wings for Animals! Back in The Netherlands, a group of wonderful people gathered forces to raise funds for animal rescue organizations in Curacao (that was us, yay!), Paramaribo and Dehli.

When you work together you can really do wonderful things. Thank you, Adriana, Angela, Bien, Jacobien, Juultje, Kim en Sandra & Rob!

Kim visited us this week to get some serious CARFIELOVE from our adoptable doggies! ♥ We are not sure who enjoyed the cuddles the most, but it's pretty clear to see both Kim and our CARFIES enjoyed her visit. Scroll down for more cute pictures.

Thank You, Maduro & Curiel's Bank!

A big "THANK YOU" goes out to our friends from Maduro & Curiel's Bank (MCB). MCB invited its staff members to select local charities that they are passionate about to receive support, and CARF Curacao was one of the lucky organizations!
Our friends from MCB have donated several bags of ProPlan, doggy treats, and dog shampoo, ánd they joined us for a walk with some of our adoptable dogs in Jan Thiel this morning!

We feel very grateful and would like to thank all of you once again for your support, Maduro & Curiel's Bank!

Smile At The Camera!

The first CARF Pet Photo Shoot took place on Sunday, November 20th in Jan Thiel. We would like to thank all participants who signed up, all the dogs for striking the best possible poses, and most of all, our friend & supporter Nestor G. Zavarce for selflessly donating his time, labor and all profits to help raise funds for our dogs!

Run Robbo, Run! (KLM CURAÇAO MARATHON)

Hundreds of runners will pound the streets of Curaçao on Sunday, November 27th for the 3rd Annual KLM Curaçao Marathon. Many will run to beat personal bests but not Robbo Robbinson (43) from the United Kingdom. Robbo will be running the marathon to raise funds for a charity close to his heart; CARF.*

Robbo contacted us in September to tell us about this plan to raise funds for the abused, neglected and abandoned dogs that are in our care. Now that we're just few days away from the marathon, we were curious to find out how Robbo is preparing and how this idea came about.

What made you decide to run the half marathon (21km) and raise funds for CARF?
"I enjoy running a lot, I find it a great way to get away from the stresses and strains of every day life. Since we moved to the island, my wife and l have been impressed with the work CARF does. We follow it all via Facebook. We fully support CARF's mission and we feel that all abandoned and abused dogs deserve a second chance in life."

Do you have any dogs yourself?
"We do, we have two dogs and one cat. Our dogs are named Emily (6 years old) and Pup-Pup (1 year old), both are rescued dogs. Emily was found by a friend of ours and Pup-Pup we found ourselves in a storm drain/storm sewer. And then we have our cat Winter, who was also rescued."

Have you run any marathons before?
"Yes, the KLM Curaçao Marathon is going to be my 6th half marathon. My first marathon was back in 1993. This is my first marathon in Curaçao, but I have taken part in a number of RRCK races, including the Sambil and Guardian runs.
(RRCK is the premier road race organization in Curaçao and in the Caribbean region.)

What kinds of things do you think about when you run?
"I like looking around and enjoying the scenery when I run. I don't think about too much while running, to be honest. The longer I run the more my body might ache, but the clearer my mind will feel. When I reach the point of exhaustion, I know I'll be able to push further because then I can really only focus on two things; keep breathing and keep running."

How are you preparing for the KLM Half Marathon?
"Physically, I prepare by running a few times a week. I have pounded many an hour on the treadmill in the gym. My motivation is to raise the necessary funds for all the great work that CARF does for the dogs in need. I'm sure my inner determination and motivation will get me through."

Thank you for running for our CARFIES, Robbo! We are so thankful to have your support and you bet that we'll be rooting for you all the way.

* If you would like to support Robbo, please send an email to stichtingcarf@gmail.com with subject 'Robbo' or make a donation in Robbo's name at Maduro & Curiel's Bank account number 21199501 or through PayPal.

From 10am-2pm, people could visit our booth to learn more about our foundation and to purchase merchandise (caps, bags, and stickers with our logo), home decorations, and more. We brought along two of our adoptable CARFIES for people to pet and cuddle. Our friends of I-Animal had their booth next to us and they took the following pictures. Thank you, I-Animal!
Our CARFIES loved the dog house made by I-Animal! All in all, it was a nice day with friendly booth owners and tasty and fresh juices by Erwin Louis of My Way. Later in the day we also welcomed adopted CARFIE Maxim (see picture below) - always awesome to see our adopted dogs living the good life!

CARF's World animal Day: Sweets For My Sweet

On Tuesday, October 4th, with the help of Sherry-Ann Bakeshop and Dani K Cupcakes & Sweets, we hosted a Meet & Greet Bake Sale Edition to raise funds and awareness for our rescued dogs and our foundation.
When you work in animal rescue, every day is World Animal Day. From morning till evening, you work, teach, learn, and try your best to make the world a better place for the abused, neglected, abandoned and homeless animals.

However, we couldn't let the official Animal World Day just pass us by without celebrating all the dogs we have saved over the last years and create awareness for all the dogs still waiting to be adopted and those out there who need our help. With the help of Sherry-Ann Bakeshop and Dani K Cupcakes & Sweets, we hosted a Meet & Greet Bake Sale Edition to raise funds for our foundation and awareness for our dogs.

We appreciate everyone's enthusiasm to order (cup)cakes and feel grateful to have such great supporters. We were surprised and oh-so touched by those who stopped by to give generous donations that will help us to continue our work. You are awesome.

A heartfelt "THANK YOU" goes out to long-time supporter Sherry-Ann, who initiated the idea of baking and selling (cup)cakes for CARF and who spent several days in the kitchen to mix, bake, and decorate cakes and pies. She got help from her friend Danielle of Dani K Cupcakes & Sweets, a working mom with a busy schedule, who didn't find time but who made time to offer a helping hand: "THANK YOU!"

We would also like to thank Supermarket Vreugdenhil for donating Nafl. 150,- worth of groceries, Industrias Leañez Tip Top who donated ingredients, and Caribbean Bakery Supplies. We could also count on support from Fam. A.J.J. Sprock, Fam. Koolmeijer-De Souza, Patrick en Citra (DeLeuksteTaartenshop Amsterdam), Martien en Anna (Caribbean Bakery Supplies) Rougenka Stein (SweetArt Curacao), Debby Eekman, Patrick Hira, Raymond Brandon, Carla Giskus, Gareth Weber, Kristel Hellburg, and Nicole Weber. Last but not least, we would like to thank our volunteers whose help made all the difference.

Thank you, everyone.

PS: If you missed the Meet & Greet but you are interested in adopting a dog or becoming a foster parent to one, please contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We would love to meet you!

Thank you, Vespucci College!

At the beginning of September, Vespucci College organized a charity run and swim benefiting both I-Animal and CARF. Earlier this week, we were invited to collect a cheque in the amount of Nafl. 3500,- for each foundation.
What an awesome result! Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the students and staff of Vespucci College for their kind and compassionate efforts. We are very grateful for your support!

Sunday Morning, Walking The CARFIES

This morning, despite the somewhat rainy weather, several volunteers came together to take our CARFIES for a walk. Rain or shine, the dogs didn't seem to mind, they loved to sniff and saunter - and the popsicles we had prepared for them were a big hit. Thank you, volunteers, for helping make their Sunday truly special!
We all enjoyed the outdoors while enhancing our dogs socialization and leash skills. Are you interested in joining us during our upcoming walks? Contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com.

Calling All Artists And Creative Folks Out There!

On November 5th, CARF Curacao will join the Annual Christmas Fair at Landhuis Bloemhof. We are looking for people who would like to donate their handmade items to our charity to sell during this fair; jewelry, arts, clothing, accessories, toys, home decorations, and other awesome handmade goods.
All profits will go to the care of our rescued dogs. If you would like to help out, please send us a message at stichtingcarf@gmail.com and let us know what your talents are and what you are able to donate. We'd love to hear from you!

Are you not that creative or short on time, but you would like to help? Please let us know if you can donate any craft items, material or craft supplies you no longer need. We might be able to use these.

All materials are welcome, except for leather and fur. We cannot accept any food items.
