CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Marky ♂

Meet Marky. Marky joined the CARF Family a few days before New Year's Eve. A time that should be filled with cheer, joy and family, but instead, for Marky, was filled with loneliness, confusion, and fear. Marky was abandoned when his owners moved and left him behind for reasons we will never understand.
After they left, Marky was living in the house by himself where he was being fed by the realtor. He spent his days waiting for his family, who never came back for him...

Marky was approximately one year old when we first met him, so he is around two years old today. He has been living with a loving foster family and a cat friend, but since they are on the island only temporarily, Marky will have to move again by October 1st.

Marky gets along well with children and cats, and loves to be around people.

There is quite some urgency to find Marky a new forever home, or foster home, before the end of September. Marky is looking for someone to call 'family', someone who will love him and never leave him. Are you that someone...?

For more information about Marky or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

Meet & Greet: Eat Sweets, Support CARF

Eating sweets and supporting a good cause at the same time — where do we sign? CARF is hosting a Meet & Greet where you can meet some of our adoptable dogs. Friend and long time supporter Sherry-Ann will be selling delicious homemade pies and cupcakes to help raise funds for CARF. How sweet is that?
Meet And Greet Our CARFIES
The Meet & Greet will take place from 10:00-11:45am at Kaya Semikok B3. We'll bring some of our adoptable dogs for a morning of running around, playing with fellow CARFIES, and maybe even meeting their possible new families. If you're interested in offering a rescued dog a second chance in life, make sure to talk to our volunteers. They can tell you more about each dog's personality and which dogs would be a good fit for your living situation and lifestyle.

Preorder Pies and Cupcakes
There will be a stand in a separate area where you can pick up your pre-ordered pies and cupcakes. Sherry-Ann and her family are big supporters of CARF. Sherry-Ann also happens to have a talent and a passion for baking, so you can understand that we were thrilled when she offered to help us raise funds by selling baked goods!

- Chocolate Pie (Nafl. 55)
- Red Velvet Pie (Nafl. 55)

Adopted: Ian & Tammy

Ian & Tammy (new names: Rex & Cookie) have found their happiness. Together with their sibling (who has already been adopted), they were found by tourists who were visiting the island. They were tiny, weak, and help should not have come any later for them. Today, they are 'living the life' with their new family who have a big yard for them to play in and a big heart to love them.
We are absolutely thrilled that these two were adopted together. Thank you to their new humans for spoiling and loving them. What a lucky pups they are today!

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Murray ♂

Curaçao Vegan Food Fest: Delicious Dishes & Animal Adoptions

Mouth-watering zucchini burgers. Mushroom skewers with sweet potato fries. Carrot cake smothered in a dairy-free cashew frosting. And more. So much more. The first Curaçao Vegan Food Fest brought together an amazing array of cruelty-free food, local foodies, and culinary professionals in a fun and welcoming environment.
Marie-Louise Rigaud of Zumba Curaçao birthed the concept for a vegan food fest and teamed up with Arnold van Putten of Super Nice Cold Pressed Juices to make her dream happen. On Sunday, August 28th, Landhuis Hofi Cas Cora opened its doors for the first Curaçao Vegan Food Festival.

It was a beautiful but very hot day. Despite the heat, the crowds started pouring in the moment the festival started. From 3-8pm, there were consistent lines in front of the food stands. Visitors had a chance to talk directly to vegan food producers, try and enjoy delicious dishes, or simply learn what vegan foods are available on the island and where you can find them.

Curaçao Paletas brought flavored ice creams. Kome Konsiente served taco salad, quinoa with zucchini patties, pumpkin soup, and protein energy balls. Jahman's Place prepared eggplant stew with funchi & garbanzo coconut curry and cilantro. Maia Whole Foods served veggie sandwiches, Japanese blossom salad, and quinoa pudding. Spice Girl brought pita with black bean falafel and mango salad, and roasted sweet potato with tahini dressing. Spotted Banana prepared tacos and vegan roti, followed by pumpkin cinnamon donuts and carrot cake with frosting. And last but not least, Vita offered zucchini spaghetti, falafel salad, and mushroom skewers. You can scroll down for the complete menu.

As the oldest no-kill animal rescue organization on the island, CARF was also invited to attend this festival. Adoptable CARFIES Bowie and Kingsley were beyond excited as they were the "chosen ones" to join us at the festival! Visitors could meet and pet our dogs, they could shop for cool stuff at our stand, or leave a donation to support our cause.

We would like to thank Marie-Louise and Arnold for inviting us to be part of their festival, all the exhibitors for introducing over 600 people on the island to cruelty-free foods, and of course, all guests who visited our stand to show their support.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Hux ♀

Needed: Foster Home for Aaron

We're looking for a foster home for Aaron. He is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He is estimated to be about 3 years old and was rescued off the streets when he was in very bad shape.
It took months of intensive medical care to get him to where he is. He's doing so much better and his skin and dry eye issues are improving. Aaron is very loyal and with his small size, he's easy to take along on outings and walks.

If you would like to know more please email us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com or click here for more info about our foster program. Food and toys are provided by CARF, and medical bills are paid for by CARF. It just takes you some of your time.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Mamai ♀

Meet Mamai. Mamai is a beautiful, brindle beauty who is approximately three years old. Back in April 2015, she was found wandering around at Brionplein in Otrobanda together with her six puppies. Those days are far behind her. Her puppies have all found amazing homes, but Mamai is still waiting for her turn.
Good news for Mamai is that she is one of the lucky girls who is now spayed and will never have another litter of puppies. Today, she can solely focus on finding herself a good home and a human to love and call her own. Will you help her reach her goal?

Mamai is up-to-date on all vaccinations and monthly preventives, and she has been spayed and microchipped.

For more information about Mamai or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

Heartworm Treatment: What You Need to Know

Heartworms in dogs are easy to prevent, but difficult, and costly, to cure. These last few weeks we have been treating (and still need to treat) several of our former street dogs for their heartworm. As some of you may know this is an expensive procedure costing up to hundreds of dollars per dog.
We urge all pet owners to please be responsible and provide a simple and affordable monthly prevention for your dog and cat!

We would also like to ask for your financial support in providing this life saving procedure for our rescue dogs. Over the coming days we will post individual pictures of the many dogs who have undergone heartworm treatment on our Facebook page. If you haven't done so yet, please make sure to 'like' our page.

If you can donate any amount to cover these expenses, we (and all the CARFIES) would be so very grateful. Please email stichtingcarf@gmail.com for any questions.

Donations can be made at:
Maduro & Curiel's Bank: 21199501
Banco di Caribe: 301647 500 001 100 01
Or use the PayPal link on our website.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Inky ♀

Meet our little sweetheart Inky. Inky is one of Perdita's puppies, and although she loves her mom dearly, Inky is ready to go home with her new family. Her siblings have already been adopted, brother Dipper is moving next month, and so it's just Inky and Pepper who are still waiting for someone to come and take them home. Will you be that special someone...?
A little fun fact about Inky: she loves to dip her toes into the water! On numerous occasions our volunteers found Inky sitting with her paws in her water bowl. We think she would do great with a family or individual who will take her for walks on the beach or who wouldn't mind sharing their pool with her.
For more information about Inky or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

Passionistas Pop-Up Fair: Fun, Joy & Passion

Today, on Saturday, August 13th, CARF attended the Passionistas Pop-Up Fair from 3-7pm. It was a fun-filled afternoon during which we were able to inform attendees about our foundation and raise money for the care and treatment of our dogs. Local businesses added flavor to the day with homemade food stalls for both savory and sweet tooth lovers, accompanied by a range of other stalls ranging from jewelry, accessories, and home decorations, to gifts and artwork.
Attending companies included: Gely's Food Lab, Crafty Teacups, It's Yummy - Infused Water, Crafted by Angel, My Love For The Kitchen, Siomi's Arts, Alive Body Care, QuesilloQueen, Bold Fashion, TasH, and Mrs Bliss.

To everyone who visited our stand and purchased some of our products or left a donation, we are so grateful for your contribution and cannot thank you enough for your generosity. A special "thank you" goes out to Evita from Passionistas Pop-Up Fair for inviting us and hosting this fun fair.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: J-Lo ♀

"I'm still, I'm still Jenny from the block. Used to have a little, now I have a lot. No matter where I go, I know where I came from". J-Lo was rescued off the streets, and is now living a comfortable life with CARF, where she gets daily food, fresh water, and all of the care she deserves. However, there's still something missing in her life. Or actually, someone. J-Lo is looking for a very special someone to offer her a trusting, loving home.
As she roamed the streets looking for food and water, J-Lo gave birth to litter after litter. She was occasionally fed by people in the neighborhood, but no one was able to take her in. An attentive woman kept seeing her and contacted CARF asking for help.

J-Lo has been in our care since the end of March '16 and she has blossomed into a happy, healthy, girl, full of love, spunk, and personality. J-Lo is more than ready to move to her forever home now. This short-legged sweetheart has been spayed, so she will never have an accidental litter again.

For more information about J-Lo or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.
