Momma Dog and Puppies Dumped at Landfill

Just when you think you've seen it all, or when you think things can't possibly get any worse, they do. Here's the story of Graziela and her pups who were cruelly dumped amidst the trash at Curaçao's landfill facility Malpais...
Graziela and her four pups were cruelly dumped amidst the trash at Curaçao's landfill facility Malpais. A kind animal friendly staff member alerted CARF after he found Graziela entangled in some bushes by the chain that her owner couldn’t be bothered to remove (or maybe recently bought with the purpose of dumping her and her little ones). He managed to secure them until our team arrived with the proper supplies to transport them to safety.

The pups are about 9 weeks old, worm-ridden, malnourished, emaciated and petrified. Graziela is just one year old, a puppy herself! She has a broken pelvis and a dislocated hip, not to mention the psychological trauma of what she has endured.

Now we will begin this journey of physical and emotional healing for Mom and her four pups; Giorgia, Giulia, Giovanna and Gina.

If you are able to donate even the smallest amount to help us with the medical and food expenses for this little family, we'd be forever grateful.

We could not turn our back to these souls but we really, really need your help!

Welcome Lil' Westpointers

These puppies are just days old and sadly rejected by their mom. They need to be fed every couple hours, quite the task! So to make things easier, our friends at Dierenbescherming Curaçao have agreed to 'mom' them during the day while we take on the night shifts. Working together we can achieve so much more!

Meet Mini and her 10 Mini-Me's

Dios spar nos! 11 more mouths to feed, 11 more souls to vet and provide for. So relieved we were able to help this family. Mini and her mini-me’s are safe and loved in a warm foster home. Never will Mini have to beg for food again for her and her babies.
We will, however, need your support to help cover the medical and food expenses for this family. They have been to the Vet and have been dewormed and treated for parasites.

We are in crisis mode with several emergencies. Please if you can spare any amount... Mini and her little ones would be so grateful for your compassion.

Our local bank account is MCB 21199501 (Beshiweg 1). You can also make credit card donations through PayPal Paypal (stichtingcarf@gmail.com). We also have a Euro-account for supporters in The Netherlands/Europe, kindly send us a private Facebook message or email us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com.

We hope we can count on your trust and support.

Pupdate: The Seven Mahuma-Pups

We have received many requests for portrait photos of our Mahuma-puppies. All seven puppies are feeling (and looking!) much better, and have blossomed into the cutest little dogs (pictures in the article). They will soon be ready for adoption. Can you open up your home and heart to one of our puppies?
Thank you for giving these innocent souls their second chance. In case you don't quite remember what they looked like when they were first found, click here.

We couldn't have helped them if it wasn't for your trust and support. May we introduce you to... Babs, Banjer, Becky, Belinda, Blossom, Brenna, and Brooke!

Pupdate: Lucille & Her Litter

Lucille and her little ones are doing great. The puppies are three weeks old today and growing. Lucy, as her foster mommy calls her, is a doting momma dog and uncle Vic (Invictus) is right there to show them the ropes on how to be big pups soon. This is CARFIELOVE at it's best.
With so many pups and other recovering rescues, and depending solely on your donations, if you are able to spare any amount towards their medical expenses we would be so grateful.

Deworming, vaccinations, microchipping, spays and neuters all necessary medical treatments to keep our CARFIES healthy and happy.

On behalf of all the CARFIES, thank you! Now let's look at those cute faces...

Neverending Story...

And then this happened... Nine (9!) pups found abandoned. They are being treated for fleas, worms and giardia.
When is this insanity going to be tackled by the local authorities? This crisis is ongoing and all rescues are at wit's end. Nada no ta kambia!

NOT!

Curaçao, is this how you want to get tourists?

Donations for the care and vetting of these helpless souls are much needed and appreciated:

Welcome To CARF, Rico!

Last weekend, we received a call about a very skinny and weak dog. Fortunately, one of our trusted and dedicated volunteers rushed over immediately.
The person who called us also joined to indicate the exact spot he had seen him and assisted in securing him. His "collar" was a green shoe lace and the chain used to tie him up to die seemed brand new. This, for local standards very large boy, is super sweet and is currently being treated for several issues.

We named him Rico and he will be simply stunning once he's fully healed. Please, please help us cover his medical expenses and share him so we can find him a loving foster (or adoption) home where he can recover from this nightmare.

Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Ed Needs Your Help. We Need Your Help.

Ed needs your help. We need your help. We are maxed out! But we had to help Ed... It seems he's been walking with this injured leg for a while (not a surprise it's badly infected). Poor Ed will have to have his leg amputated...
Ed is on pain meds and antibiotics and fortunately in very good spirits. Village, we need your assistance. We still have about Fl. 5.000,- of outstanding food and medical expenses to cover this month only.

Please help us with a donation of any size so we can continue to help the helpless. Be the voice for the voiceless and go forward with our mission to Foster Second Chances.

Donations can be made at Maduro & Curiel's Bank account number 21199501 and/or at Banco di Caribe account number 301647 500 001 100 01. We also welcome donations of bleach, paper kitchen (scott) towels, laundry detergent, cleaning agents of all kinds, dishwashing liquid, sponges, brooms, mops, trash bags etc.

Email us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com for any information you may require.

We have approximately 140 dogs in our care that we provide with food, preventives, and medical treatments (heartworm, tick fever, chemotherapy and so much more). We are also spaying and neutering, vaccinating, deworming, microchipping, and the list goes on...

Any help is appreciated. On behalf of the entire team and all our rescued CARFIES, thank you!

Sunday Bloody Sunday

It was one of those Sundays... Three dead, three alive. Barely. They would not have survived another hour and would have died of dehydration. These little ones were saved by visitors from the United States of America and their local guide. Is this what our government wants our tourists to tell their family and friends back home?
,The three puppies received fluids and were cleaned of the fleas. They are in good hands now and will only go to the best homes when they are ready to be adopted. A big thank you goes out to their rescuers!

HASTA CUANDO!?

If you would like to donate towards the care and treatments of these three puppies, our bank details are (Attn. CARF Curaçao, Beshiweg 1, Willemstad, Curaçao):

  • Maduro & Curiel's Bank: 21199501
  • Banco di Caribe: 301647 500 001 100 01
  • PayPal

If there is anything else you would like to donate ; toys for them to snuggle next to, puppy food (ProPlan Puppy) or even paper towels, please email stichtingcarf@gmail.com.

Welcoming Yentl!

Meet Yentl! Yentl joined the CARF family last weekend. With the help of one of our volunteers, the family who previously adopted CARFIES Bob and Allessandra were able to catch her. They had been feeding her for about a month to gain her trust, and this weekend their efforts paid off.
Yentl is very sweet and seems grateful to be off the streets. Our vet will take a closer look at her shortly. Stay tuned for updates on this pretty lady!

If you are interested in fostering and/or adopting Yently (or any of our other dogs), please feel free to send us an email at stichtingcarf@gmail.com.
