CARFIE Of The Week: Giorgio

Meet Giorgio; a handsome dog who's looking for just the right person to give him the chance he deserves. Giorgio is three years old. If we had to describe his personality in a few words, we'd say he's friendly, sweet (very sweet!) and loyal.
Giorgio needs someone who supports him in situations that make him insecure and who is willing to give him a cuddle every time he needs one. Some more basic training would be great for him. Giorgio is such a good, happy-go-lucky boy who just needs a little polish to help him shine! Are you up to the challenge?

Contact our Adoption Team at stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info about Giorgio (or one of our other adoptable CARFIES) or to set up a meet-and-greet.

CARFIE Of The Week: Thor ♂

Meet Thor! He's a young, handsome, friendly boy who has energy to burn. Thor enjoys going for walks and would make a great adventure buddy ― he absolutely loves to play and splash around in the water.

Thor is about three years old now. We know this beautiful boy will make a great best friend! Just ask for him (or any of our other adoptable CARFIES) at stichtingcarf@gmail.com, our Adoption Team will happily tell you more about him.

CARFIE Of The Week: Kanela

Kanela will be celebrating her 4th birthday in a couple of weeks. And although she doesn't ask for much, she is secretly hoping that she will be adopted by a loving family. Do you want to give her the best birthday surprise ever..?
If you're interested in adopting Kanela, we'd love to tell you more about her. Please contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info or to set up a meet-and-greet with this sweet girl.

CARFIE Of The Week: Vic

Are you looking for a buddy who is always up for a new challenge or the next adventure? Meet Vic! This friendly, outgoing boy is fun, energetic, and loves exploring! He always finds something in need of sniffing, chasing, or uncovering. Vic would love to find an adopter who will take him on hikes, walks, and maybe runs to burn off some energy.
Vic is about 6 months old. He's up-to-date on his vaccinations and is ready to move in with his new family anytime. Would you like to meet Vic? Please contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info or to set up a meet-and-greet with this great guy.

Year In Review: Looking Back on 2018

As the year is coming to an end, we look back on 2018 with mixed feelings. In the past 12 months, we've seen horrific cases of animal abuse, neglect and abandonment. But we've also seen dogs make amazing recoveries ― both physically and mentally.
We've shed tears of despair, disappointment and grief.
But we've also shed tears of joy, relief and extreme gratitude.

2018 marked our 10th anniversary in dog rescue. Since 2008, we have been rescuing and socializing dogs in Curaçao and re-homing them on the island and abroad. Although our work may be far from done, we have accomplished a lot. Especially taken into consideration the fact that we're all volunteers and receive zero government funding.

Sometimes, dog rescue is challenging.
Sometimes, dog rescue is exhausting.
Sometimes, dog rescue is overwhelming.
Sometimes, dog rescue is emotionally draining.
Sometimes, dog rescue is a very discouraging job.

It's your words of encouragement and your donations that keep us strong and remind us every day that we are making a difference... together. We may not change the world but we can change the world for a dog. And that's worth a lot.

We want to thank each and everyone of you who have our backs. Whether you support us through adoptions, fostering, volunteering, donations of money or supplies, or simply by sharing our social media posts and helping us reach a broader audience.

We wish you nothing but the best for 2019 and hope that we can continue counting on your support!

Feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info or click here to see some of the amazing recoveries we witnessed in the last year. For donations, no matter how small, click here.

Desi, Lieve Desi...

WARNING: GRAPHIC PICTURES!

Although, we did not want to have to euthanize her, it was the best thing that we could do for her. Another very sad day for the animal welfare situation on this island...

Vaarwel Desi, rust zacht... RIP.

Beer before and after. This is why we do what we do!
Lily came to us in the most terrible condition. One thing that keeps amazing us in dog rescue is how forgiving and loyal these creatures are - even when they have seen the worst humans are capable of.
Visit our Facebook page for regular updates, adoptable dogs, newly rescued dogs, and more before & after pictures.
Would you like to adopt, donate, foster or volunteer? Our CARFIES would be happy to meet you. And we would be thrilled to hear from you! CARFIE Of The Week: Bodhi ♂

Need a friend who will be so excited to see you every day? Who will happily go everywhere with you? And who will always be down with sharing a meal? Bodhi might just be the friend you've been looking for!
Bodhi is about 1,5 years old. He weighs 15 kilos, is fully-vetted, and ready to be adopted. Cuddles and kisses guaranteed!

Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info about Bodhi or one of our other adoptable CARFIES. Can't adopt? If you're interested in fostering one of our dogs, please email us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com ― we'd love to have you join our lifesaving foster program!

CARFIE Of The Week: Akeala

Are you looking for a smaller medium-sized dog? Akeala is a 3-year old girl who is ready to settle down. She raised her puppies well and now it's her time to shine. Who wants to adopt this sweetheart?
She is a friendly, young dog who seeks the companionship of people and adapts well to new situations. She raised her puppies well and now she can be adopted. We are looking for a family for her where she will be treated as a full member and where she will be loved for as long as she lives. She has no problem entertaining herself, loves to walk, and to cuddle a lot.

Akeala is chipped, neutered and vaccinated. For more info or to set up a meet-and-greet, you can contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com and ask about Akeala (or one of our other adoptable CARFIES).

CARFIE Of The Week: Riley ♂

Are you looking for a squishy, loving, lively dog? Riley is your guy! He is about 2 years old and was found in a schoolyard together with doggie friend Jerry. Although they were having a blast with the kids, they clearly couldn't stay there. They came into our care and we're glad to share that Jerry has since been adopted. When will it be Riley's time?
Riley would really like to find an adopter he can pal around with, maybe even someone who has another playful dog already. A big yard to run around in would be cool, but no yard is also fine because that means more walks with his person! If you think you might be the right fit for Riley, come and meet him!

Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info about Riley (or one of our other adoptable CARFIES).

Lily; Lost & Lonely in Curaçao

Lily needs your help. We barely had time to recover from the shock and disbelief of the condition of Graziela and her pups when we got a call about this helpless soul...
Lily is in critical condition, she was put on a drip immediately and given several medications. We are doing our best to save her. She’s a fighter and deserves a happy end. No creature should ever have to endure such neglect. What have we become as humans...?

Thanks to Lisa and Sven for not looking away, going out to look for her, and bringing her to our vet (Claus Clinic).

Many of you have stepped up for our landfill family of five and we are forever grateful. Please, if you can spare ANY amount to help us fight for and with Lily, all donations (no matter how small) are welcome.

Monetary donations can be made through PayPal (click here) or through the following accounts:

  • Maduro & Curiel's Bank: 21199501. Address: Beshiweg #1
  • Banco di Caribe: 301647 500 001 100 01. Address: Beshiweg #1
  • If you would like to make a donation from The Netherlands or another European country, we have a euro-account (€) that you can use to donate to avoid costly transfer fees.  Please contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info.

We depend on your trust and generosity to continue our efforts for Lily and all our other rescued #carfies

CARFIE Of The Week: Bagheera

Meet Bagheera! He is a friendly, wiggly, happy puppy who is looking for a forever family to call home. Bagheera was found roaming the streets by himself by caring tourists who contacted us. After having been in our care for a while, Bagheera is now doing fine and is ready to be adopted.
Bagheera is about 14 weeks old. Who wants to offer this jolly guy a home?

To ask about adopting Bagheera, you can best contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. You can also make a donation to help more dogs like him.

Momma Dog and Puppies Dumped at Landfill

Just when you think you've seen it all, or when you think things can't possibly get any worse, they do. Here's the story of Graziela and her pups who were cruelly dumped amidst the trash at Curaçao's landfill facility Malpais...
Graziela and her four pups were cruelly dumped amidst the trash at Curaçao's landfill facility Malpais. A kind animal friendly staff member alerted CARF after he found Graziela entangled in some bushes by the chain that her owner couldn’t be bothered to remove (or maybe recently bought with the purpose of dumping her and her little ones). He managed to secure them until our team arrived with the proper supplies to transport them to safety.

The pups are about 9 weeks old, worm-ridden, malnourished, emaciated and petrified. Graziela is just one year old, a puppy herself! She has a broken pelvis and a dislocated hip, not to mention the psychological trauma of what she has endured.

Now we will begin this journey of physical and emotional healing for Mom and her four pups; Giorgia, Giulia, Giovanna and Gina.

If you are able to donate even the smallest amount to help us with the medical and food expenses for this little family, we'd be forever grateful.

Monetary donations can be made through PayPal (click here) or through the following accounts:
Maduro & Curiel's Bank: 21199501. Address: Beshiweg #1
Banco di Caribe: 301647 500 001 100 01. Address: Beshiweg #1
If you would like to make a donation from The Netherlands or another European country, we have a euro-account (€) that you can use to donate to avoid costly transfer fees.  Please contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info.
Ifo : Graziela & pups

We could not turn our back to these souls but we really, really need your help!

CARFIE Of The Week: Hato

Hato is calm, easy-going, and fluffy as can be. Yet somehow, despite his many charms, Hato still hasn’t been adopted yet. He’s been at CARF for several years now and during his time with us, he has seen hundreds of dogs come and go. Although he enjoys being at our shelter, we very much wish him to have a place to call home.
So, what else is there to know about Hato?

  • Hato is a medium sized dog.
  • He's one of our first generation CARFIES.
  • Can you believe Hato is TEN years old?! Neither can we, to be honest.
  • This calm senior does not ask for much; food, water, and a safe and comfortable place to chill.
  • In short, Hato is really just a sweet elderly boy who is pretty easy-going!

For more info about Hato, or one of our other adoptable CARFIES, contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We'd happily tell you more about our our adoptable dogs and our adoption process.

CARFIE Of The Week: Lola

♬ Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl... ♫ Our little Lola is not a showgirl but she sure is a beauty! She is about 15 weeks old and is looking for her forever home where she can settle and flourish. She is healthy and ready for adoption, can you offer her the home she needs?
Lola  was found together with her brother Nino, who is also up for adoption. Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info about Lola and/or our other adoptable CARFIES.

CARFIE Of The Week: Rufus

Are you looking for an adventure buddy? Meet Rufus! He loves to hop in the car and go, go, go. Want a nice long hike? He's in! Going for a run? Don't forget to take him! Rufus is pretty much ready for whatever adventure you've got cooked up.
Rufus is a 2-year old, very smart, and super friendly dog who's ready to live life to the fullest! He now weighs 23 kilos but the vet said it would be OK for him to gain some extra weight (lucky...). He is neutered, micro-chipped, and fully vaccinated. Rufus enjoys car rides and he'd be an awesome hiking buddy as he is fantastic on a leash.

Would you like to meet Rufus (or one of our other adoptable dogs)? Please send an email to stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info or to set up a meet & greet. Rufus will be waiting for your message!
