Lily; Lost & Lonely in Curaçao

Lily needs your help. We barely had time to recover from the shock and disbelief of the condition of Graziela and her pups when we got a call about this helpless soul...
Lily is in critical condition, she was put on a drip immediately and given several medications. We are doing our best to save her. She’s a fighter and deserves a happy end. No creature should ever have to endure such neglect. What have we become as humans...?

Thanks to Lisa and Sven for not looking away, going out to look for her, and bringing her to our vet (Claus Clinic).

Many of you have stepped up for our landfill family of five and we are forever grateful. Please, if you can spare ANY amount to help us fight for and with Lily, all donations (no matter how small) are welcome.

Monetary donations can be made through PayPal (click here) or through the following accounts:

CARFIE Of The Week: Bagheera

Meet Bagheera! He is a friendly, wiggly, happy puppy who is looking for a forever family to call home. Bagheera was found roaming the streets by himself by caring tourists who contacted us. After having been in our care for a while, Bagheera is now doing fine and is ready to be adopted.
Bagheera is about 14 weeks old. Who wants to offer this jolly guy a home?

To ask about adopting Bagheera, you can best contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. You can also make a donation to help more dogs like him.

Momma Dog and Puppies Dumped at Landfill

Just when you think you've seen it all, or when you think things can't possibly get any worse, they do. Here's the story of Graziela and her pups who were cruelly dumped amidst the trash at Curaçao's landfill facility Malpais...
Graziela and her four pups were cruelly dumped amidst the trash at Curaçao's landfill facility Malpais. A kind animal friendly staff member alerted CARF after he found Graziela entangled in some bushes by the chain that her owner couldn’t be bothered to remove (or maybe recently bought with the purpose of dumping her and her little ones). He managed to secure them until our team arrived with the proper supplies to transport them to safety.

The pups are about 9 weeks old, worm-ridden, malnourished, emaciated and petrified. Graziela is just one year old, a puppy herself! She has a broken pelvis and a dislocated hip, not to mention the psychological trauma of what she has endured.

Now we will begin this journey of physical and emotional healing for Mom and her four pups; Giorgia, Giulia, Giovanna and Gina.

If you are able to donate even the smallest amount to help us with the medical and food expenses for this little family, we'd be forever grateful.

We could not turn our back to these souls but we really, really need your help!

CARFIE Of The Week: Hato

Hato is calm, easy-going, and fluffy as can be. Yet somehow, despite his many charms, Hato still hasn’t been adopted yet. He’s been at CARF for several years now and during his time with us, he has seen hundreds of dogs come and go. Although he enjoys being at our shelter, we very much wish him to have a place to call home.
So, what else is there to know about Hato?

  • Hato is a medium sized dog.
  • He's one of our first generation CARFIES.
  • Can you believe Hato is TEN years old?! Neither can we, to be honest.
  • This calm senior does not ask for much; food, water, and a safe and comfortable place to chill.
  • In short, Hato is really just a sweet elderly boy who is pretty easy-going!

For more info about Hato, or one of our other adoptable CARFIES, contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We'd happily tell you more about our our adoptable dogs and our adoption process.

CARFIE Of The Week: Lola

♬ Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl... ♫ Our little Lola is not a showgirl but she sure is a beauty! She is about 15 weeks old and is looking for her forever home where she can settle and flourish. She is healthy and ready for adoption, can you offer her the home she needs?
Lola  was found together with her brother Nino, who is also up for adoption. Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info about Lola and/or our other adoptable CARFIES.

CARFIE Of The Week: Rufus

Are you looking for an adventure buddy? Meet Rufus! He loves to hop in the car and go, go, go. Want a nice long hike? He's in! Going for a run? Don't forget to take him! Rufus is pretty much ready for whatever adventure you've got cooked up.
Rufus is a 2-year old, very smart, and super friendly dog who's ready to live life to the fullest! He now weighs 23 kilos but the vet said it would be OK for him to gain some extra weight (lucky...). He is neutered, micro-chipped, and fully vaccinated. Rufus enjoys car rides and he'd be an awesome hiking buddy as he is fantastic on a leash.

Would you like to meet Rufus (or one of our other adoptable dogs)? Please send an email to stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info or to set up a meet & greet. Rufus will be waiting for your message!

CARFIE Of The Week: Maria

When we found Maria, she was heavily pregnant and ready to deliver any moment. Fortunately we were able to take her in so she could deliver her babies in a safe and loving environment. She has since had 6 little ones (all happy and healthy puppies) and she was recently spayed so she won't have any more litters. Now it is Maria's time to shine!
Maria may have had some hard times in the past but she's so happy and grateful to be getting a second chance. She is healthy, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. She is approximately two years old but ready to learn all kinds of new things.

In short, Maria is a wonderfully dog who has won the hearts of our volunteers. Doesn't she sound like the perfect companion? Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com to meet Maria (or one of our other adoptable CARFIES).

CARFIE Of The Week: Marcos

Marcos, one of our Muraya puppies, did not have the greatest start in life. Together with his siblings, he was thrown over our wall into our yard when he was still a young and tiny puppy. Fortunately, they didn't break anything but they really needed medical help. Today, Marcos is happy, healthy and ready to move in with his new family.
Marcos is 12 weeks old. He is fully vetted and ready to lighten up your household. Do you want to offer a sweet and playful pup lots of cuddles and a loving forever home? Then contact us as soon as possible to meet Marcos (or one of his brothers) by sending an email to stichtingcarf@gmail.com.

We know, we know..., how is Meghan still here!? Her confidence and sweet nature makes her ideal for almost any family, and she's also great with other dogs. We don't know what you did to be lucky enough to have found her, but she might not be available for long ― so get in quick!
We thought forever homes would line up for Meghan, but she is still patiently waiting. She is a loyal girl who would would love to safe guard her own home, garden and humans. She is also super sweet, exceptionally enchanting and deliciously delightful to have around. Meghan has been spayed and is approx. 2 years old.

For more info about Meghan, or one of our other adoptable CARFIES, you can contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com.

Rest In Peace, Little Miguel...

Sadly, we recently had to say goodbye to little Miguel, one of the 8 Muraya pups thrown over our wall. Miguel developed an extremely swollen belly and bloodwork indicated liver problems and an elevated level of ammonia, which pointed in the direction of a liver shunt.
Surgeon Bart Sjollema, on the island cooperating with the big sterilization project, offered to operate on Miguel at Claus Clinic to try and save his life.

Unfortunately, it turned out Miguel had already developed muliple liver shunts and nothing could be done to cure this congenital condition. Heartbroken, the only fair thing to do was to let this little angel go…

Our deepest gratitude goes to Bart Sjollema and Pieter Claus for trying their best to help Miguel.

Run free little Miguel, we will never forget your sweet kisses and happy puppy face.

Forever In Our Hearts, Sweet Chance...

Following the passing of Miguel, we suffered another heartbreaking loss at in the CARF family – Golden Oldie Chance left us unexpectedly in his sleep a few days ago.
Chance was taken off the streets several years ago when he was already a senior. With the proper medical care and lots of love and attention, Chance lived to his 14th year happily and in relatively good physical condition. He loved going on walks and rides in the car and was a loyal and loving companion to his fosters.

Our golden boy... our grandpa... He educated our puppies and taught them "how to dog".

He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, sweetheart...

CARFIE Of The Week: Nikita ♀

Nikita is ready to be adopted! She's very much hoping to find her new family soon. She has things to sniff, and naps to take, and snacks to eat, and people to snuggle with. Could you be her new person?
A little bit more about Nikita. She's 7 months old. She is a loving bundle of joy, she loves to hang out and play, but is also very eager to learn. A little training and lots of fun adventures will go a long way to help this puppy develop into your FBFF (Furry Best Friend Forever)! Nikita has been spayed, is fully vetted, and is up-to-date on monthly preventives.

Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info or to set up a meet-and-greet with Nikita (or one of our other adoptable CARFIES).

CARFIES Of The Week: River & Bear

Wouldn't you love a double dose of cuteness to greet you every day? Meet River and Bear! They grew up without their mommy and have been a huge support for each other. We wouldn't dream to break up this dynamic duo, so we would love to find them a home together. What do you say? Can you handle the cuteness?
River & Bear were bottle fed, but are now old enough and ready to fly out. Who can resist this 11-weeks old irresistible duo? Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com to set up a meet-and-greet with River & Bear.

CARFIE Of The Week: Jer ♂

Jer would love to brighten up your household. He loves people, loves being outside, loves playing, and gets along great with other dogs. Basically, he's great! And also cute. Very, very cute. With his energy and loving character, he will definitely bring a smile to your face.
Jer is approx. two years old, he has tons of energy and personality! Come visit him and maybe adopt him. Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info about Jer or to set up a meet-and-greet.

CARFIE Of The Week: Leroy

This handsome pup is 4 months old and he's very well socialized, just like his adoptable siblings and their mom. Leroy is cute, fun, playful, loving, adorable -- you name it, Leroy has it. Except for... a place to call home. Let's get Leroy adopted into a real home!
One of our volunteers took Leroy for a walk the other day and said: "Leroy did great! He does not mind walking on a leash, except maybe when he sees other dogs in the distance. But that's only because he's very curious and wanted to make new friends. He also enjoyed meeting new people and will come right up to strangers with a friendly smile and wagging tail. Leroy seemed to enjoy the water and getting his paws wet. I'm sure he will make a great pet!"

It's time for Leroy to find a home where he will have his own people to greet every day, a comfy bed to sleep in, a yard to soak up sunbeams, lots of fun activities with his humans, and plenty of yummy treats. Could you be the person that Leroy is looking for?

Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more info about Leroy or one of our other adoptable CARFIES.
