CARFIE Of The Week: Rex ♂

Meet Rex, a handsome male of approximately two years old. Everyone who has met Rex adores him as he is well mannered and affectionate. Rex has seen several of his dog friends being picked up by their families and he's starting to wonder how much longer he will have to wait for his human to find him...
Although he has proven to be a true friend and loyal companion to adults and older kids, Rex is not a fan of small children. Something to keep in mind if you have a family with young kids! He does get along great with other dogs. He is up-to-date with vaccinations, plus, he's already neutered so you don't have to worry about getting that done.

Rex doesn't ask for much; love, attention, food, water. And maybe the occasional doggy treat. Our only request is to make sure you have a fenced yard to avoid Rex wandering the neighborhood by himself.

For more information about Rex or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

CARF | CARFIE Of The WEek: Inky ♀

Inky is a one-year old dog who loves to cuddle. If you have an active lifestyle and enjoy outdoor activities than Inky might be the perfect dog for you, as she can turn any day into an adventure. Then again, we can also picture her snuggled up to the person who adopts her, happy and content in her forever home.
Inky is the last one from a litter born at our group location. Her siblings have all found their families but Inky is still patiently waiting for someone to come for her. She's a favorite among our volunteers and we can't understand why she hasn't been adopted yet.

This is how one of our volunteers described her: "Inky is the best. She is well behaved and her personality is just as cute as her looks. She is friendly, affectionate and so happy around people. I always look forward to seeing her, but I would love to see Inky get adopted by a loving family."

In short, Inky is a real special dog. She gets along great with people and other dogs, she loves to be petted and is very loyal. She thinks everything is fun and great. She is very friendly and calm. Inky is simply a lovely dog!

For more information about Inky or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Jerry ♂

Meet Jerry, another one of our adoptable senior dogs. Jerry (9 years old) is a rough diamond; he has quite some scars on his skin but on the inside he's pure gold. He is super sweet and always up for a hug. Will you be his forever cuddle buddy?
Jerry listens very well and he is the best when it comes to walking off leash. He has been living with his foster family for a while where he enjoys spending time with both humans and dogs. However, a bit more one-on-one time with his human would be great for him.

This is what Jerry's foster mom had to say about him: "He may look tough, but all he wants to do is cuddle. Jerry is a mellow fella and I really hope we can find him a forever home where he gets all the love and attention he deserves. He is very sweet for those he trusts and he will protect them through thick and thin."

For more information about Jerry or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Tommy ♂

Meet Tommy. Tommy is a 16-month old male dog. This positive fellow gets excited about a lot of things; he loves children, other dogs, playing, walking, hugging and let's not forget, eating!
Tommy has a lot of energy, which need to be addressed by mind games, training and walking to keep him really happy. Following a basic training with him is recommended. He can walk on a leash, but his walking skills still need some improvement. Tommy is bench-trained and is OK with riding in a car.

Is there room in your life for an active dog? Tommy might be the perfect fit for you!

For more information about Tommy or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Heidi ♀

Heidi is a super sweet lady of approx. 16 months old. She was in an awful condition when she entered our foster care a couple of months ago. She was skinny, scared, tail tucked, head down, and in desperate need of help. Luckily she was spotted by caring tourists who reached out to us for help.
Thanks to these lovely ladies we were able to find Heidi and bring her into safety. Heidi was afraid of us and our leash so it took some effort to catch her (she was hiding underneath a wooden platform). Long story short, we eventually got her in the car.

We were able to place Heidi in a foster home (yay for our awesome fosters!) where she slowly started to regain trust in herself and the humans around. Heidi loves to learn new things, loves to play and loves to go on walks with her humans. She really deserves a loving forever home!

For more information about Heidi or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week Chico ♂

Look at that face. Just, look at it. How is Chico not adopted yet? Chico is an adorable and social pup, whose eyes will make you melt. Don't wait too long - he's bound to find a home very soon!
Chico is approx. 3,5 months old and has already received his first vaccination. Together with his brothers Harpo and Zeppo (yes, there are three of these cuties!), he will soon return to the vet to get his second vaccination. As soon as he is old enough, he will be neutered (this is included in the adoption fee).

Chico's current hobbies are wrestling with his siblings, nibbling on his toys and rolling over for belly rubs. Chico would love to have some playtime with you. Are you interested in meeting and possibly adopting this puppy? Contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com for more information or to set up a meet-and-greet.

* There's a Nafl. 150,- adoption donation. While in the care of CARF, all dogs are given age-appropriate vaccines, spayed/neutered and dewormed. Other medical treatments may be provided to dogs, depending upon their specific needs.

From Trash To Treasure: Radar

The Story of Radar

Radar was betrayed, left behind to fend for himself, after years of "loyal service" when his owner moved. Radar was living on the street and sleeping in old abandoned buildings in Otrobanda. He survived on scrapes and some meals neighbors would provide him.
When we first heard of him we had no place to take him. Together with a concerned neighbor, we started to care for him on the streets. We provided the neighbor with dog food and medication so she could feed and medicate Radar twice daily. He was given Nexgard Spectra. As soon as he would allow us to touch him, we were able to treat his eye. We suspect he is blind in one eye.

Time For Action

Radar started to look and feel better, but the streets were still not a safe place for him. He would regularly get hit by cars in the busy, narrow street. It's a miracle he survived this long. He would be chased, spit on, and he has stones thrown at him by passersby. He had also been attacked a few times by other dogs fighting for food.

One day, as we arrived to clean his eye and provide him with pain medication, we heard that he was napping on the sidewalk when a car drove onto the sidewalk and hit him. As we were getting our supplies ready, we witnessed Radar being attacked by a dog. He had to get the dog off him twice. At that moment we knew we had to get him to safety. Radar was loaded into the car without a back-up plan.

Luckily we knew one of our regular fosters would soon be able to foster again. After a few days in emergency boarding, Radar moved to his own little corner of paradise. Radar is still being treated for ehrlichia and anemia, his skin is slowly getting better and he is on daily pain management for sore joints. Fortunately, he tested negative for heart worm (?).

A (Goofy) Treasure He Is

Radar has shown us to be extremely cuddly, loyal and goofy. He's a loving and sensitive dog. We are thrilled to see him feeling and looking better and are so happy he is now out of danger in a safe, warm and loving environment. Like all living creatures should be.

We would like to thank Chantal and JoAnn who both alerted us about Radar and who both made financial contributions to his initial medical expenses.

With so many rescues in our care and completely dependent on the generosity of our friends and followers we would like to ask if anyone is able to assist in Radar's expenses. He will be neutered and another blood test will be done to make sure he's cured of ehrlichia. Any donation is greatly appreciated.

Donations are very much appreciated. You can donate to our local MCB-account: 21199501 (Maduro & Curiel's Bank), with address: Beshiweg 1, Willemstad, Curaçao. On behalf of the entire team, old man Radar sends you his love.

Welcome To CARF, Rico!

Last weekend, we received a call about a very skinny and weak dog. Fortunately, one of our trusted and dedicated volunteers rushed over immediately.
The person who called us also joined to indicate the exact spot he had seen him and assisted in securing him. His "collar" was a green shoe lace and the chain used to tie him up to die seemed brand new. This, for local standards very large boy, is super sweet and is currently being treated for several issues.

We named him Rico and he will be simply stunning once he's fully healed. Please, please help us cover his medical expenses and share him so we can find him a loving foster (or adoption) home where he can recover from this nightmare.

Any assistance you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Wings For Animals x CARF Curaçao

We owe a big, huge and giant THANK YOU to Wings for Animals! Back in The Netherlands, a group of wonderful people gathered forces to raise funds for animal rescue organizations in Curacao (that was us, yay!), Paramaribo and Dehli.

When you work together you can really do wonderful things. Thank you, Adriana, Angela, Bien, Jacobien, Juultje, Kim en Sandra & Rob!

Kim visited us this week to get some serious CARFIELOVE from our adoptable doggies! ♥ We are not sure who enjoyed the cuddles the most, but it's pretty clear to see both Kim and our CARFIES enjoyed her visit. Scroll down for more cute pictures.

* In a world where many couldn't care less, be someone who couldn't care more... *

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week: Camper

If you've been looking for a young dog, but not a puppy, one with a great personality, but nothing too crazy, Camper might be the one for you! He has been neutered, micro-chipped, and is all set to move to his forever home.
Camper is about three years old and is the most loyal dog you could wish for; he will protect you and the ones you love. Camper has left his puppy years behind him, but he still has lots of energy and love to give. He enjoys going for walks. Swimming and playing are two of his other hobbies.

For more information about Camper or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.

CARF | CARFIE Of The Week Bolt

Our lil' rockstar Bolt is still waiting for his forever home. We don't know why, because he is so handsome, sweet, adorable, smart and loyal. Bolt is six months old, so still a puppy. He has already been chipped, neutered, and vaccinated... all set to move out, and move in with his new family!
Bolt's favorite things to do are going for walks, swimming, and cuddling. He is a smaller sized dog, so ideal for people who want to adopt a puppy who doesn't get too big when full grown.

PS: Want to double the fun? You can! Bolt's sibling Lenny is also looking for a home. He is at least half as sweet, smart and cuddly as Bolt. They can be adopted together or apart.

For more information about Bolt or one of our other CARFIES, please feel free to contact us at stichtingcarf@gmail.com. We will reply to you at our earliest convenience.
