A Word of Thanks
It is truly an international movement with support from across the globe. We pride ourselves on the best possible (medical) care for our street dogs, cats and more... and could NEVER do this without YOU! Un danki di kurason.

Adopted: Lucky Lagun Finally Finds His Luck
Vacations always come to an end sooner or later, and Tanja and Vinny had to go back home, without Lucky. Although they couldn't take Lucky home with them that they, the decided they wanted to adopt him and have him fly over as soon as he'd be ready to make the trip.
So Lucky stayed on Curaçao and became a CARFIE. After receiving the necessary medical treatments to get well, Lucky was finally ready to join his new family in the States. This week, Lucky made the trip to his lifetime home in New York State to live with his saviours!
Lucky was a true champ during the trip and we are so proud of how he has settled in to his new home and new routine. We are so grateful to this loving family for adopting Lucky Lagun and for their generous donation towards the care of Lucky's fellow CARFIES.
Lucky had no idea how his life would change the day he was seen by his rescuers. We wish you all the best sweetie and we will see you again soon!
8 Before & After Photos Show What Love Does To Dogs
The overpopulation of homeless dogs on Curaçao is overwhelming, but it's inspiring recoveries like these, that make animal rescue so worthwhile and motivating.
You can help! Being in a home instead of a boarding facility makes a tremendous difference for a lonely and frightened dog. For more information about becoming a foster parent or to schedule a meeting to discuss possibilities, please contact stichtingcarf@gmail.com.
With your help, we can place even more adult dogs and puppies into new homes where they will be loved, cherished, appreciated, and admired. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and share our updates. A lot of our dogs find new and loving homes through internet and social media sharing. It really does make a difference!

CARF Update: Sylvester
In the meantime, Sylvester is the most loving and serene CARFIE and we enjoy every minute of his company.
From Trash (Literally) To Treasure
Until now, he had never known the kindness of a cuddle or a gentle pat on his head. As you can see, his mange condition is quite advanced. Just imagine how much he must have suffered out there, resorting to scavenging the landfill for a scrap of whatever he could find to survive. As of now, this fella will never go hungry again. Plus, he will be getting the best medical attention available!
Please find it in your hearts to donate towards our cause of 'Fostering Second Chances' and providing much needed medical assistance to so many, too many, sick and injured street dogs. We have our hands full. It is hard to keep up with our financial commitments to our suppliers (dog food, medicines, cleaning supplies, etc). It is a pity a handful of animal advocates and supporters have to do a job that in our humble opinion should be the responsibility of our government...

Brazil Pups Get Their Happy Ending
Our volunteers made sure the pups were monitored, fed and provided with deworming and vitamins. It took some time and devotion, but they quite rapidly turned into happy, energetic puppies.
Fast forward three months later, and they have all found their forever home and are now taken care of by their wonderful family members. Many thanks to those of you who opened your hearts and homes to these beauties. We wish all families nothing but the best. Beijos!
(At this time, we have no pictures of Adriana with her family but we're glad to announce that she was adopted - just like her siblings- and that she too is enjoying life in her new home with her new family.)
Ayo, Little Mila!
Mila is a little darling and from the moment she first arrived at her foster house, she has been a real sweetheart. She is a total cuddle bug who loves her belly rubs, crawls up in your lap and will repay you with sloppy ear kisses - it's a pretty good deal.
The one thing Mila does not enjoy is being left by herself. Her fosters first found out when they left her in their laundry room while they went out to do grocery shopping. When they came back, little Mila couldn't be found in her bed nor in her crate. She had climbed her way up onto the laundry machine which gave her a perfect view into the attached living room. No one could sneak in or out of the house without Mila knowing it! :-)
Sweet Mila, we wish you a life full of love and happiness, with lots of treats and toys, daily belly rubs, and many happy moments with your new family!
Bumper goes Netherlands
CARFIE Bumper goes Holland
Bumper joined the ever-growing CARF family in July this year. He was found stumbling the streets by two tourists. They took him to the vet and then reached out to us for help. His rescuers eventually had to leave the island to go back to The Netherlands. But they ensured us that they would adopt Bumper. They would fly him "home" as soon as we would decide that he was in good enough shape to fly.Well, Bumper's patience was rewarded as he hit the jackpot with his new mommies! They had been waiting for him for months, so you can imagine how happy they were to finally be able to see and hold him in their arms again. Despite the cold weather, Bumper was very warmly welcomed at Schiphol. Not only did he receive a big 'Welcome Home' balloon, Bumper even had a TV crew waiting for him! Just a few minutes in the country, and our Bumpie is already a 'Bekende Nederlander' (Famous Dutchie).
Sweet Bumper, you had a rough start in life but now you have a wonderful home where you are loved. We hope you have many happy healthy years with your family
Buddy, The Friendly Barker
Was adopted: 2015.07.09
New Name: Brody
On April 24th, 2015, we received a message from someone saying that they had spotted a skinny stray dog who was clearly in need of help. She couldn't take him in herself, but she could tell us where we could find him: Cas Abao Beach. With its clear turquoise water, waving palm trees and white sandy beach, Cas Abao is a true paradise. But for Buddy? Not so much. We can only guess how this poor soul ended up here, but we knew that he wouldn't survive here much longer. Buddy was in bad shape, he was very skinny and you could count every rib and see his spine. He was also covered in hundreds of ticks and at fleas. It was time for action.
A volunteer offered to drive out to Cas Abao to check if Buddy was still there. She couldn't leave until after she finished work so it took a few hours, but we eventually received good news. Not only did she found Buddy, he had let her pick him up without much resistance. The volunteer had placed Buddy in her car and they were now together on their way to the shelter.
A few days later Buddy was able to move to his foster family. When he first got there, he was really shy. He would watch their every move and didn't make any attempts to leave his spot in the corner of the room. Eating from their hands? He'd rather not.
It wasn't until a few days later when we let Buddy meet with some other dogs. We weren't sure how he would react, but we soon found that this was the best thing we could have done. Buddy easily made friends with the other dogs and he started to copy their behavior. When our volunteers heard him bark for the first time, they were surprised by how loud his bark was. This quiet, timid dog would one day make a great guard dog!
Buddy slowly began to trust people and he started to enjoy his new life. He spent some more days at a second foster family before moving to his forever home.
Buddy is now named Brody, and is living happily with his loving human and a furry friend called Bailey.
"To see Buddy transform from a skinny and timid dog that was scared of everything and everyone into a happy and confident dog has been amazing. I couldn't be more happy for him that he found a forever home. He really deserved this life, this chance." - CARF Volunteer.
Drew, The Little Adventurer
About CARFIE Drew
- Became a CARFIE: 2015.06.08
- Was adopted: 2015.06.23
- New Name: Candy
Puppy Drew was first spotted wandering the streets by one of our volunteers who just happened to drive there that evening. Drew was all by herself and about to venture onto a busy road. So our volunteer did what had to be done; she turned her car around and parked it at the side of the road.
And so the adventure begins...
And an adventure it was. The volunteer took Drew home, where she gave her some more food and fresh water. Just the sight of food, or maybe it was the smell of it, made Drew's tail wag uncontrollably. What a happy, little puppy. The next morning, Drew was taken to the vet who told us she had worms, fleas, lice, anemia and ehrlichia. Just in case, she also had to be treated for canine distemper.
The next two weeks, Drew evolved into a kind, spunky, fun and loving puppy. She turned out to be very adventurous and enjoyed exploring new surroundings and meeting fellow dogs. She absolutely loved to cuddle and with her 'puppy eyes' she stole a lot of hearts. It wasn’t a big surprise that it was love at first sight when her new family first came to meet her.
Drew was adopted on June 23th by a loving and caring couple and is thriving in her new home.
“With the help of CARF, who provided all the food, medicine, vet expenses, toys and blankets, we were able to find Drew a loving home with a caring family in only two weeks time. It was a pleasure to have this little ball of energy in our home, and we will absolutely miss her. So long little Drew, you're going to be such a good girl!” - CARF Volunteer.
