? Everybody buckle up for yet another sad story... Sweet Annie was found by tourists visiting the island; emaciated, malnourished, and in need of help. Our recent rescues have pushed us well over our limit, and we are slammed full, but we couldn’t possibly not help.
? The vet said we were lucky we got her when we did because she might not have survived another night. Annie had been so deprived of food and water that she had to be put on a drip for dehydration immediately. She was so weak after being taken in she had to eat while lying down. Her temperature is worrying and she’s currently fighting for her life. We’re hoping that she will pull through, and we’ll do everything in our power to make that happen.
?? Annie’s condition will require a lot of vetting and it will be a huge financial burden for a small group of volunteers like ours. If you’d consider helping us help Annie, we would be forever grateful. To donate please use one of the following methods:

? UPDATE: It's been a while since we last posted about Emma and we know that many of you are waiting for an update. Well, we have a lot of catching up to do.
? Due to unknown reasons, Emma has contracted a severe bacterial infection in her leg. We suspect she has an old bite wound that got infected, despite her taking daily antibiotics. The tissue on a large part of her paw has died. We don’t want to compromise this poor girl's health any further, so we're going to follow our vet's advice and will probably have to have her leg amputated when she has gained more of her strength. We now this may sound like bad news, but we know from experience that three-legged dogs can live long, happy, healthy lives. We've seen it before and we are confident that Emma will not be an exception.
? On a more positive note, Emma had full bloodwork done and the results are looking good. She does not have heart worm disease, which is very, very good news. She has also gained some weight, is clearly feeling more energetic, and has become very affectionate and cuddly. She is still far from being 100%, but she is certainly on the right path and has an amazing support system right behind her every step of the way. Her awesome foster and the staff at Claus Clinic have been more than amazing and the key components to making little Emma keep pushing to better herself.
❤️ Please send all the good vibes her way and if you would like to contribute to her care, please feel free to visit www.carfdogrescue.com/donate-carf to check out our different donation options. You go Emma!

? Well, these pictures are not pretty but they give you an idea of what we deal with in rescue. This 5,5-month old puppy was found earlier this week in Soto. We suspect he was hit by a car, and then just left to die. We've named him Timber. Nobody knows how long Timber was there ― alone, on the side of the road, in excruciating pain. Nobody knows how many people drove by and simply pretended not to see him.
? But fortunately for this guy, help came eventually. Our vet confirmed that his leg injury was already a few days old when Timber was brought in. The puppy underwent surgery and is now recovering at one of our foster homes.
❤️ As many of you know, our vet bill is already sky high, and these extra costs were not budgeted. If you can give anything, even a dollar or two, we would appreciate it. We'll keep you posted on how Timber is doing. Thank you!

? UPDATE 3: Thank you all for your patience, we know that many of you are eagerly waiting for good news regarding Emma.
? We didn't get around to posting anything yesterday, because the day didn’t start off that well. We had to rush Emma back to our vet because her condition seemed to be worsening. She's had another drip and her medications have been adjusted. She is still very frail but she’s fighting for her life with all her might. She seems to be less alert. This morning, she has been drinking well, so at least there is that. We're hoping that her appetite will improve soon.
?? Together with our vet, we are doing absolutely everything in our power to help her pull through. We’ll try to post another update about Emma as soon as we can. Please keep Emma in your thoughts and THANK YOU for your concern, your support, and your donations.

? UPDATE 2: Emma is drinking and eating little amounts with support. It might seem small but we consider it a milestone. The poor girl weighs barely 6 kilos and has clear neurological damage. She physically cannot move herself yet without support from our volunteers.
? We sit with her and wonder how long she has been in this pain. And we can’t get ourselves to think about how much longer she could have possibly lasted out there. We try to stay positive and focus on the fact that someone did see her and did ask for help!
? We really appreciate everyone’s donations and well wishes. We’ll try to respond to all of the comments and messages but we find ourselves without sufficient time to answer them all. We will post regular updates about Emma as we know many of you care!
